Tales from a Dance Floor

I have been working my professional network lately and have had several work opportunities come my way. These opportunities range from contract work to owning my own business to full-on, full time positions. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do from a work standpoint, given that I'd ultimately like to be home with Will at least part of the time, but I've noticed that this job search has become analogous to me being on a dance club floor. Now mind you, I have not darkened the door of a dance club in years, to the benefit of everyone attending dance clubs. Me, my dancing skills and a dance club floor do not mix (Side note: An even scarier, yet slightly more hilarious sight is my husband and I dancing together in any environment. I once saw a video clip of us out on the dance floor at a friend's wedding reception. We were sort of in the background of the clip, but you could clearly see us, limbs awkwardly flailing to some 90's hip-hop song. Hilarious, yet humiliating at the same time.)

Back to the dance club analogy. I remember the phenomenon of dancing with a gaggle of my girlfriends and there would always be that one guy with the gold chains and baggy jeans that would approach and try and sidle his way in to dance with one of us. It was never the cute guy that would approach.... the one you REALLY wanted to dance with. So, you would be resigned to dancing with Mr. Gold Chain, at least until you made up some lame excuse to get out of there, like needing to use the facilities. So far my job search has resembled this scenario. I've come across many opportunities, yet the ones I REALLY want and am very interested in don't come my way, or at least, they come slowly. The ones I am not as interested in seem to swoop in and make an offer to "dance" immediately. This leaves me with wondering: Do I go ahead and dance with the "gold chain" companies that give me their promises of job security and money, or do I hold out, hoping my "Prince Charming" will come along? I'm still waiting to see how this fairy tale will end...let's hope it doesn't involve any dancing.

An Honest Mistake

I was bathing Will tonight and noticed that he had a little bit of diaper rash. I reached for the Balmex to help soothe the rash, but noticed as I was applying it that the consistency was different than I remembered. Upon closer inspection, I realized that I had applied strawberry banana infant toothpaste to his rear. They really need to make the packaging look much more different for those two products.

Musings on motherhood, career, family and anything else that floats into my mind. Lucky you.
