We have pee, folks! In the toilet, that is....
Tonight when Billy was giving Will a bath, Will decided to sit down on the little kiddie toilet we have in the bathroom. Now, this is not so unusual; we have had this little toilet for quite some time, and he enjoys sitting on it but has never actually used it...until now.
You see, I decided not to sweat the whole potty training thing a long time ago. I have friends whose kids were trained at 18 months (on the early side) and friends whose three-year-olds are still working on it. The main advice I got, though, was not to push it. Basically, when a kid is ready they'll do it minus all the tears, bribes and accidents that may occur if you try and do it too early.
So, tonight when Will sat on the toilet, I didn't think anything of it. But then, all of a sudden, I heard a "pssssssssst" sound. Yep, he was actually going! Billy and I, of course, were clapping and smiling and cheering like he had just won the Nobel Peace Prize. Then, Will stood up, turned around and started going standing up! Even more impressive! He was so proud of himself--he kept turning around to look at us to see if we were catching this very cool situation, and he had a giant smile plastered on his face the entire time.
I have a feeling this is the start of many years of urine staining my floors and walls (ah, the joys of raising a boy). But for now, I couldn't be happier about it (ask me again in a week).
