On the Road Again

I am in NY. No, not NYC, just NY. As in Islandia, NY on Long Island. As many of you know, I have been working part-time for the last year and half for a company called NetQoS. We were acquired by a large company, CA, in November and since then it's been sort of touch and go as far as 1) what I would be doing for the company, 2) if I would be able to keep working part-time, and 3) if I would have a job at all.

So, a trip to Islandia where CA's headquarters are located was planned. My current boss and I got on a plane last night (Sunday...yuck) and had meetings all day today. The good news? I got to meet a lot of different people across the marketing group and I also confirmed my new role (details still TBD). The best news? I get to keep my part-time schedule!

It was really hard to leave Will on Sunday. This is my first business trip in nearly three years, and leaving on a weekend is never fun. I can't wait to get home to see the little guy on Wednesday! (although I am enjoying sitting on the hotel bed, eating a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and watching The Bachelor--a horribly cheesey show I don't usually watch, but an oh-so-guilty pleasure while on the road). Being away just confirms my prior realization: I don't want to work full-time. So, I will keep on loving my 20-hours-a-week gig for as long as it lasts--time will tell.

PS: Now I'm watching The Office...now there's a show...

It IS hard to be away but probably healthy. I got o do a little bit of work travel and I missed Rhys a ton but it was great to come home and see his smiling face. Glad to hear your part-time job will continue. What a blessing! - Kim

Thanks, Kim. I do feel lucky. And you are so right--some time away is definitely healthy!

Musings on motherhood, career, family and anything else that floats into my mind. Lucky you.
