Good Lord, how do I let so much time go by without a blog post? Well, I could use the excuse that life has been busy, because it has, but who doesn’t have a busy life? Here’s a rundown of the latest Fanning haps:
1) Will’s birthday: We celebrated Will’s birthday the weekend before Thanksgiving. The little guy turned two and we had a party at our house with forty—yes, forty—of our closest friends. A good time was had by all, and my in-laws and Billy’s granny came into town for the occasion, so Will did not want for any attention.
2) Thanksgiving: The weekend after Will’s party was Thanksgiving. We went to my parent’s house in Georgetown and my sister Pam and her family came down from Dallas. Copious amounts of food, beverages and fun were had by all. Will loved playing with his cousins Hayley (13) and Kara (11), and again, did not want for any attention.
3) Surprise!: The weekend after Thanksgiving, Will and I headed up to Dallas for my sister Pam’s surprise 40th birthday party (happy birthday, sis!). She said she was completely surprised and by the look on her face, I would have to agree. My other sister, Paula, flew into town from Portland, OR for the occasion, so it was really nice to spend a few days with my sisters and my parents, particularly since my family is not getting together for Christmas this year. And yes, Will did not want for any attention. (side note: This was my first car trip alone with Will. He's not he greatest car traveler, but he did pretty well. Timing the drive to coincide with his nap helped as did many snacks, and my laptop for him to watch a DVD--at least until he dropped the laptop and then cried to have it back. Sort of hard to accommodate as you are driving 70mph down I-35).
4) Holiday parties: I had my company holiday party last week and this week is Billy's. Twice in one month I get to wear a fancy dress and shoes--something that doesn't normally occur in the life of a mom with a toddler.
Next on the agenda includes a girl’s night out to see New Moon (yes, my friends and I are Twi-hards. I suppose this also makes me a Twi-mom. Team Edward!), a trip next weekend to Houston to visit some friends that will be in town from Australia, and then leaving the week after for Illinois to spend Christmas with Billy’s family. No rest for the weary! It’s a whirlwind, but it’s fun. Still have to figure out when I’m going to do my Christmas cards. Perhaps it will turn into a “Happy New Year” greeting instead…
