Surgery

I had surgery last week, so I've been a little out of the blogging loop. Billy and I have been having a tough time conceiving baby #2 (more to come on that later--let's just say it's been a long year), so I had a laparascopy last Thursday to go in and investigate my lady parts (ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, etc.) and clear out anything that might be impeding pregnancy. I had a bit of endometriosis removed and a cyst, but that's about it.

After talking to other women who've had this procedure done, I thought the recovery time would be relatively quick and easy. Ha! That's what I get for thinking I'd be up and running (or at least walking) two days later. Not so much. I've had a lot of pain and it's still difficult for me to walk four days later. It's frustrating to say the least. I've got a doctor appointment this afternoon, so hopefully I can get some insight as to why I'm still having so much pain, particularly on the right-hand-side incision. I'm also ready for the bloating to go away--they inflate the belly w/ CO2 to do this surgery which leads to a distended stomach (not exactly an attractive look, if you know what I mean. Particularly since I've been rocking oversize elastic pants the last few days. HOT!). Let's just say I'm ready to get back to my normal self. And to be able to pick up my son (can't lift anything heavy, and Lord knows my son ain't a feather weight).

Until then, hydrocodone is my friend.

You are in my most ardent prayers, Michele! Hopefully everything is all cleared out and having had surgery done will speed things up. Hopefully you'll feel like yourself soon, so you can rock the elastic waistband at the buffet only. Hugs, my friend.

Hi Michelle - Ditto on the prayers that MB mentions. I have girlfriends that have doen this too, although not sure on their recovery time. We send you fast healing and fertile thoughts. - Kim

Musings on motherhood, career, family and anything else that floats into my mind. Lucky you.
