Conversations with a Two-Year-Old, Part II

I mentioned in my last post that Will is talking in complete sentences and we can have full-blown, two-sided conversations, some of which are pretty hilarious. Tonight Billy went out with some buddies for a beer after work, so Will and I headed to Panera Bread for dinner.

Over Will's grilled cheese and bowl of veggie soup (yes, for some reason that kid loves their veggie soup with pesto), and my panini and salad, I asked him about school (he goes to daycare on Tuesdays and Thursdays while I work). He told me he had a good day and talked about a few of the kids in his class. Then I asked him:

"So who's your best friend at school?"

"Um...Addy!" (you may remember this story about Addy from a previous post. They have been long-time pals).

"Addy? Addy's your best friend?"

"Yes, she's my girlfriend." Whaa? I didn't even know he knew that word! I mean, I'm sure he doesn't really know what it means, but still. Good God.

So then I reached across the table to dip my bread in his soup:

"Hey, don't do that, mommy!"

"Okay. Sorry bud."

"Mommy, that's ree-diculous. Ree-diculous."
